One of the world’s top fashion models, Karen Mulder is among the most beautiful
and most recognized women in the world. During her stunning career in the world
of modeling, she has done a number of photo shoots with such big names as Javier
Vallhonrat, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier and Bruce Weber, among others,
and her face has decorated countless magazines’ covers like Vogue. In addition,
her attractive poses for the Victoria’s Secret catalogue and Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit made Mulder a household name, and appearances in such well-known

A former supermodel, Mulder stands 5’ 10” inch tall. She became headlines in
numerous media in 2001 for creating controversy after filing a rape protest in
France against Prince Albert of Monaco. She created a related charge during a
taping on a TV show, but the producers considered her emotionally unhinged and
did not relay the interview. Later on, she is reportedly to have been entrusted
committed to a psychiatric clinic, and declared she had been sexually abused as
a child in the beginning of 2002. As for her private life, the ex-wife of Rene
Bosne is now engaged to Jean Yves, a real-estate developer whom she met in the
waiting area of a Paris airport in 1993. She is currently expecting her first
child with her fiancé Yves in winter this year.

In Vlaardingen, Zuid-Holland, Holland, Karen Mulder was born on July 1, 1970.
Her mother is a secretary and her father is a civil servant. She has a younger
sister named Saskia Mulder, who is an actress. Karen dropped out of high school
to pursue modeling and later flew to Paris to attend modeling school. She was
once married to Rene Bosne, but the relationship later ended in separation. When
not working, she enjoys singing, painting, traveling and reading. Mulder, whose
favorite film s Roman Holiday (1953), also likes spending her leisure time
watching movies.
Elite’s Look of the Year
Career:
A blonde-haired beauty, Karen Mulder entered fashion industry as a teenager when
at age 17 she became the winner of a modeling contest in Amsterdam that led her
being a finalist in Elite’s Look Of The Year worldwide competition. Noticing the
ad contest in a newspaper while a family camping trip in the south of France,
she soon delivered a big breakthrough after winning a second place at Elite’s
Look of the Year (1987).
Leaving high school to more concentrate on modeling, Mulder jetted to Italy for
an official photo shoot and then went to Paris for modeling school, in which she
was recruited by the Elite agency as their model. After a two year working on
the runaway, the blue/grey-eyed beauty landed several modeling gigs, including
for YSL, Lanvin, Versace, Armani and Valentino. In addition, Mulder’s face was
discovered on the cover of such magazines as Vogue Italia.
Her career went on to blossom in the following years as Mulder did lend a cover
shoot for British Vague, which was photographed by Tyen, and was hired as the
spokes model for Nivea. Her supermodel status further confirmed with appearances
in a number of popular advertising campaigns like Calvin Klein, Claude Montana,
Guess?, Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent fashion and Rive Gauche fragrance, as
well as Chloé, Valentino, Revlon, Jacques Fath, Gianfranco Ferré, Hervé Léger
and Guerlain. Additionally, she has done countless poses for such renowned
photographers as Javier Vallhonrat, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier, Bruce
Weber, Helmut Newton, Max Vadukul, Gilles Bensimon, Fabrizio Ferri, Steven
Meisel, Irving Penn, Robert Erdmann, and Arthur Elgort. After Guess? and Calvin
Klein ads campaigns, Mulder earned additional popularity in the United States
with her expressively poses in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 1997 and
1998, and in Victoria’s Secret catalogues.
Aside from the-runaway career, she was managed by her lover, real-estate
developer Jean Yves, who teamed up with Hasbro in 1995 on a Karen Mulder doll,
which prompted an entire supermodel line. With Yves, she also made an
infomercial and video and has done a beauty and fashion CD-ROM, wherein Mulder
gives makeup, beauty and exercise tips. Besides, Mulder also branched out into
acting, making her debut with the French short film A Theft, One Night
(2001).
36-year-old Mulder has retired from modeling. With overflowing energy and new
projects, she currently enjoys victory in all fields of modeling, including
advertising and editorial, as well as fashion and beauty.
