Background:
First applauded while portraying the title role in Tod Williams’ acclaimed
independent film The Adventures of Sebastian Cole (1998), Adrian Grenier then
gained notice when he costarred as Chase Hammond, Melissa Joan Hart’s next-door
neighbor and ex-buddy in an adaptation of Todd Strasser’s novel, Drive Me Crazy
(1999). More recent, he went to the spotlight again while starring as film star
Vince Chase in the HBO’s drama comedy series, the acclaimed “Entourage.” He is
credited to such films as Celebrity (1998), Cecil B. Demented (2000), Harvard
Man (2001), Bringing Rain (2003) and A Perfect Fit (2005).
Behind the screen, Adrian Grenier has penned and directed several short films,

Childhood and Family:
Of Native American and Irish parentage, Adrian Grenier was born on July 10, 1976
in Brooklyn, New York. The cousin of actor Evan Ferrante, Grenier speaks German
and French. He spent three years in Japan and ran the Boston Marathon in 1999.
Nicknamed A, talented musician Adrian Grenier attended Manhattan's high-status
LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and the Performing Arts. He also studied
Drama at Bard College and used to play a stone-cold hippie bongo drum, guitar,
french horn and piano.

Career:
Adrian Grenier made his feature debut role as Kabush in Hannah Weyer’s Gijón
International and Sundance Film Festival nominated independent drama Arresting
Gena (1997, starring Aesha Waks). In that same year, director Morgan J Freeman
cast him to play a street punk in his powerful drama Hurricane Streets (US
release 1998), alongside Brendan Sexton III and Antoine McLean. He subsequently
appeared as one of Leonardo DiCaprio's groupies in Woody Allen’s comedy
Celebrity (1998).
The eponymous title character of Sebastian Cole in Tod Williams’ drama comedy
The Adventures of Sebastian Cole (1998) was Grenier’s breakout role. The film
was highly praised in the Independent Spirit Awards and Sundance Film Festival,
and consequently brought Grenier performance into notice. Afterward, another
significant role arrived in John Schultz’s adaptation of Todd Strasser’s novel,
Drive Me Crazy (1999). In the high school romantic comedy movie, Grenier
costarred as Chase Hammond, Melissa Joan Hart's next-door neighbor, prankster
and troublemaker.
The new millennium saw Grenier was featured in John Waters' Hollywood satire
Cecil B. Demented (starring Melanie Griffith and Stephen Dorff). In the next
year, moviegoers remembered him starring as Alan Jensen, captain of the Harvard
basketball team who gets mixed up in gambling and drugs, in James Toback's
thriller drama Harvard Man (opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar). In that same year,
Grenier was also splashed in Steven Spielberg’s screen version of Brian Aldiss’
short story “Supertoys Last All Summer Long,” the Oscar nominating Artificial
Intelligence: AI, starring Haley Joel Osment.
In 2002, Grenier starred in the 20-minute erotic TV movie Freshening Up
(costarring Gretchen Mol). He also played a role in Peter Mattei’s romantic
d7rama, the Gotham Awards nominated Love in the Time of Money (starring Steve
Buscemi) and in Gregory Hoblit’s war drama film adopted from John Katzenbach’s
novel, Hart's War (starring Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell). Behind the screen,
Grenier served as director and producer of the documentary A Shot in the Dark
(2002).
Noah Buschel then handed him the starring role of Clay Askins in his directional
debut, the Rhode Island International Film Festival winning film Bringing Rain
(2003). He also reunited with filmmaker Woody Allen in his romantic comedy
Anything Else (2003, starring Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci) and joined
director Roger Paradiso in his comedy Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding (2004, starring
Joseph McIntyre and Mila Kunis).
Grenier went to the spotlight again with his widely popular role of Hollywood
star Vincent 'Vince' Chase in the Emmy and Golden Globe nominating series
“Entourage.” This HBO’s drama comedy show was premiered in 2004 and Grenier
stars with actors Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon (played Grenier’s brother).
More recent, he starred as a wobbly man beleaguered by nightmares in Ron Brown’s
drama thriller A Perfect Fit (2005, alongside Leila Arcieri).
